We mix just the right amount of our French ultramarine and burnt umber pigments to create a neutral black. Unlike traditional ivory or mars black, Geneva Black will not "gray up" your color. Pigments PB29 + PBr7

We add no driers to our Geneva Black or to the medium incorporated into it. Therefore, Geneva Black will remain wet on the canvas for about 7 to 10 days at 70°F (21°C) or for about 36 hours at 100°F (38°C). This allows you to work wet-in-wet at your own pace.

I've been using my Geneva blue and brown to mix my own black -- but sometimes it's a little too brown, or a little too blue. Now, using Geneva's black, it's perfectly neutral. And if I want to push it a little more brown, or blue, I can just add those colors. I'm so glad I ordered the black!

Geneva Oil Paint is a joy to work with. The colors are vibrant, the consistency is perfectly creamy, and it blends effortlessly on the canvas. It dries slowly enough to allow smooth transitions while maintaining brilliant pigment clarity.
I am a huge fan of Geneva paints. I have been using them now for about three months and I can’t imagine using any other brand at this point. The consistency and creaminess of the paint is beautiful. I highly recommend this product. As far as the black, it is a beautiful rich color.
