I find the Geneva Paints smooth and creamy thus easy to apply. I love the fact that they stay wet forever, Clean up is a cinch I just use some Dawn and my hands are free of oil. The colors are rich and blend easy. I am so glad I stumbled upon your web site Mark. I hate to sound so dramatic but you have altered the course of my life. Thank you.
A bit too thin for me with the oil to pigment ratio. If it had 30% less oil and more pigment it would be spot on. I use oil to clean my brushes and so if I had even a tiny bit more oil the paint is too thin. Also even if I used mineral spirits to clean my brushes I like to be able to have thinker or thinner paint based on what I would like to achieve for example, when painting in layers. The paint also beads up a little more than other brands. Overall, good paint if you only use alla prima painting and mineral spirits to clean your brushes.
My question was whether to add liquid to the canvas primer. I had a tough time spreading it properly. I did prime the canvas first. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know
I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. I’m waiting to receive the set of all colors before I start. I’m excited to not have to use medium or turps in my house.
I love Geneva Paint! There is no other paint that I’ve tried that is so consistently buttery and maintains consistency and color so well, all while being non-toxic. In addition, brushes stay so supple even after long breaks with no need for cleaning for days!
